Lin-Manuel Miranda Releases All-Star Puerto Rico Benefit Song: Listen

“Almost Like Praying” features Jennifer Lopez, Gloria Estefan, Camila Cabello, Fat Joe, and more

Lin-Manuel Miranda has announced “Almost Like Praying,” a new benefit single for Puerto Rico. The song interpolates a line from “Maria” from the musical West Side Story. Alongside Miranda, a host of artists are also featured—Jennifer Lopez, Gloria Estefan, Camila Cabello, Fat Joe, Luis Fonsi, Marc Anthony, Ruben Blades, Dessa, actor Gina Rodriguez, and more. All proceeds from the track will go to the Hispanic Federation UNIDOS Disaster Relief Fund, which will provide much needed aid to Puerto Ricans living in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria. Yesterday, Miranda shared a Spotify playlist called “For Puerto Rico Por Puerto Rico,” which also raises funds for disaster relief.

Other musicians have stepped up to aid in Puerto Rico’s disaster relief. Last week, Beyoncé jumped on a remix of J Balvin and Willy William’s “Mi Gente” that benefits those affected by natural disasters in the Caribbean and Mexico. Last night, Chance the Rapper held a live stream event for his Hollywood Bowl benefit concert, which facilitated viewer donations to Hurricane Maria victims via the nonprofit Direct Relief.
