Lido Pimienta’s La Papessa Wins the 2017 Polaris Prize

She beat out Leonard Cohen, Feist, Tanya Tagaq, more

Colombian-Canadian artist Lido Pimienta has won the 2017 Polaris Music Prize for her album La Papessa. The award goes to the best record by a Canadian artist (released between June 1, 2016 and May 31, 2017). Her LP beat out albums by Leonard Cohen, Feist, BADBADNOTGOOD, 2014 Polaris winner Tanya Tagaq, and others. Find all of the short list runners-up below. Last year’s Polaris winner was Kaytranada for his LP 99.9%. He was on hand at the Polaris Gala to award the 2017 honor.
