LeEco has announced an event on September 21 and it is likely the unveiling of the LeEco Pro 3 (if that’s even what the device will be called). It may be the first LeEco phone to feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 821 processor.
The device was spotted in a log on benchmarking platform AnTuTu, scoring a fairly decent 163,546 points. Not only does the phone feature the Snapdragon 821, but it also boasts a hefty 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, putting it ahead of most flagship phones from this year in the specs department.
A more recent leak from a Weibo user, that was then posted to Reddit, shows two separate devices: one with 6GB RAM with 64GB of storage, and the other with 8GB RAM with 256GB of storage. Both variants have different specs.
The former is 5.5 inches with a resolution of 1,920 x 1080 pixels. It’s powered by Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 821, features 2.5D curved glass edges on the front, and a large 4,070mAh battery. It also has a 16-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front one.
The latter 8GB variant has a larger 5.7-inch display, the same 821 processor, and a Quad HD display. The device may have dual 13-megapixel cameras on the rear and a 16-megapixel front-facing one. It also has 2.5D curved glass, and it packs a larger 5,000mAh battery.
The previous AnTuTu leak also noted that one of the devices will sport a huge 5,000mAh battery. That’s despite the relatively thin profile, which sits at 7mm — we can only assume that the phone will be large in other ways to accommodate that large battery.
If the Pro 2 price is anything to go by, the phone may cost around $300, which would be a remarkable bargain for such a high-spec device. In fact, what’s listed in the latest leak is “3×99 yuan” for the 8GB variant, and “2×99 yuan” for the 6GB one. GizmoChina suggests the “x” can be replaced with a number between 0 to 9, meaning the larger device may cost between $463 to $599. The smaller one would cost between $314 to $449.
We won’t have to wait to long to find out about the device, thanks to the event on September 21.
LeEco has been making some pretty huge waves in the smartphone world — the Letv Max Pro (LeEco was called Letv before a name change) was the first phone to feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 processor. Not only that, but the company was one of the first to eliminate the headphone jack from its smartphone lineup, getting rid of the jack on the Le 2, the Le 2 Pro, and the Le Max 2. We can only assume the the Pro 3 will follow the same trend.
