Kid Rock Angers Some Fans With Hunting Photo Featuring Dead Cougar

Kid Rock has done it again. The “Devil Without a Cause” singer has angered animal lovers by posing alongside a dead cougar, which he presumably killed while hunting, in a photo posted by fellow right-wing rocker Ted Nugent.

Kid Rock, recently said he doesn’t “Face Tweet,” but there is a photo of him on his official Facebook page holding a bow with Nugent, who is armed with a clutch of arrows. The caption reads, “It’s hunting season.”

The controversial photo was posted on Nugent’s page on Jan. 3, along with screed:

"And what a grand conservation New Year it is! HAIL my MotorCity boy KidRock for saving all those muledeer elk & livestock by whacking this magnificent mountain lion. I can hear the braindead squawkers already with their obscene denial that killing lions is wrong. Its [sic] legal its [sic] necessary its [sic] good its [sic] beneficial its [sic] a damn riot! And these lovely pigwhackers did same on the TX swine while young Rachael Byrd arrowed this fine Oryx with the Bruce Cull tribe! Praise the mighty life giving renewable protein/sport/trophy/FUN! 2015 be good good year so far!"

Nugent, who’s been on the board of the National Rifle Association since 1995, frequently posts hunting photos with dead animals on Facebook, but even some visitors to his page are questioning the move and Kid Rock.

Tracey Matthews writes, “I always thought that Ted Nugent believes in only hunting what he can eat? Nobody eats mountain lions. I get the protecting but that’s the circle of life. Mountain lions need to eat to survive too! They don’t need to be killed! Not happy with Kid Rock!”

Scott Stickney adds, “Let’s get real. Kid Rock is not going to eat this animal, he did not hunt it to ‘thin’ out the population. It is trophy hunting. Like I said in an earlier post, with all the options of entertainment for someone with the wealth of Kid Rock, why trophy hunt. A case of Dom and ten hot strippers sounds more fun than out in the woods with another dude shooting an animal for no reason but amusement.”

Others, however, came to Kid Rock’s defense. “Kid Rock rocks! For all of you putting in your two cents, please become educated on hunting and hunting licenses that are issued, tags that you must be drawn for, the limited season in which you can even hunt a given animal. And quit whining, for God sake,” Joelle Roloff Duenas writes. “Love you, too, Ted Nugent. Btw, nothing wrong with a lil cougar now and then!

"Scott Stuckney [sic]… How the heck do you KNOW what Kid Rick does and doesn’t do ? There are MANY rich entertainers who hunt and NOT for trophy… Blake Shelton ring a bell? You sound ignorant."

Elsewhere on Facebook, “public figure” LorenzoTheCat took it upon himself to repost the offending photo with “Shame on You…Kid Rock” written on it, along with the caption, “Help spread the word — musician Kid Rock just killed a mountain lion in Idaho and he’s proud of it.”

While the debate rages on in cyberspace, Kid Rock’s new album, First Kiss, will be released via Warner Bros. Records on Feb. 24. The video for the album’s title track was released earlier this month.
