Kendrick Lamar Sees the World in Black-and-White in 'Alright' Video: Watch
Kendrick Lamar dropped a music video for his latest single “Alright” on Tuesday (June 30). The song comes from To Pimp a Butterfly, his first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart.
The nearly seven-minute-long video directed by Colin Tilley and The Little Homies is filmed entirely in black-and-white. The music video starts by showing shots of life in a neighborhood in northern California. A young African-American man is seen lying on the ground and Lamar beings speaking. Police and destruction flood the scene as the music starts, and Lamar begins rapping with his friends in a car carried by police officers.

Throughout the video, Lamar flies through the city and dancers show off their moves in the streets. At the end of the music video, the rapper stands on a lamppost and a policeman shoots him down. Lamar falls to the ground finishing his monologue from the beginning of the video, but leaves viewers with a smile – he’s alright.
