Kendall Jenner recently quit Instagram, but instead of writing multiple posts explaining why she’s quitting, as so many do, she went on Ellen and talked about it. Jenner described the move as a sort of detox, saying she just wanted a little bit of a break. It’s not a total total break from social media though. She is still active on her Facebook and Twitter accounts, although she did say that she deleted the Twitter app from her phone.
Describing her Instagram routine, Jenner said, “I’m always on it. I would wake up in the morning, and I would look at it first thing. Would go to bed, and it’d be the last thing I look at. I felt a little dependent on it, and I kind of wanted to take a minute to detox.”
Jenner’s sudden departure from Instagram made national news. Fans and websites that covered Instagram, like CNN, took to Twitter to express their dismay. Some fans tweeted at Jenner saying they wanted her back on Instagram, while others just wanted to make sure she was OK.
One tweeted, “@KendallJenner please tell us something about your instagram acc! we’re worried.”
Jenner said that she will be back on Instagram, but that for now, she says she enjoys face-to-face interactions.
“I’ll be back. I’ll come back,” she said, later adding, “I’m away from my phone so much more. You start to engage in real life and how you have to deal with real life right in front of you. It’s really kind of nice to be away from it.”
