Kanye West: ‘No More CDs From Me’

Kanye West’s tirade against the music industry continued on Monday morning, but it wasn’t directed at the Grammy Awards this time around.

The hip-hop artist took to Twitter to share some interesting news through another one of his notorious rants — he will no longer release music on CDs.

“I was thinking about not making CDs ever again. … Only streaming,” West tweeted before taking a more committed stance.

“The ‘Yeezus’ album packaging was an open casket to CDs R.I.P.,” he said. “No more CDs from me.”

The controversial artist will continue to make music, but fans will have to stream his future projects.

West released his latest album, “The Life of Pablo,” exclusively on Tidal, the streaming service rapper Jay Z acquired in March 2015. West has ownership in the company.

“My album will never never never be on Apple,” West said in a string of tweets last month. “It will never be for sale. You can only get it on Tidal.”

The rapper’s decision to offer his music only on Tidal was seen as a move to bring more subscribers to the streaming service. He asked “friends, fans and music lovers” to join the site, helping to boost the number of subscribers to more than 2 million.

West recently announced he will release another album this summer. Fans and the music industry will see if the rapper’s promise holds up.
