Kanye West performed new music during last night's Met Gala at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art. A handful of Vine and YouTube clips capture the MC bellowing "I am a god!" and unleashing a few screams to boot.
Though brief and not the best quality, the footage certainly fits Daft Punk member Thomas Bangalter's description of the music he and fellow robot Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo recently worked on with West: "It was very raw; he was rapping – kind of screaming primally, actually."
Another clip from the gala shows Kanye in more traditional hip-hop mode, spitting incomprehensible lyrics over a beat with laser-like synths. A Vine post from model Coco Rocha finds West serenading his girlfriend Kim Kardashian, his voice heavily auto-tuned as he sings, "Don't let nobody bring you down/ You're so awesome!"
Just recently, West Tweeted "June 18th," ostensibly an unofficial release date for the follow-up to 2010's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. He's been working on the album in Paris with a slew of collaborators, including Skrillex, John Legend, Chief Keef and members of Odd Future.
You can check out the video from West's Met Gala performance below. He returns as musical guest to Saturday Night Live on May 18th.
