Justin Bieber Was Not Supposed to ‘Interfere’ With Prom, School District Says

The Los Angeles Unified School District isn’t exactly pleased that Justin Bieber crashed the prom for one of its high schools last Saturday. Though the students posted a slew of photos and video footage via social media thanking the “Baby” singer, a district spokesperson conveyed concerns about the scenario.

Bieber arrived unannounced to the prom for Chatsworth Charter High School where he danced with students and later shared some of their posts on his Twitter account. The excited students screamed as they rushed to catch a glimpse and take photos of the pop star.

LAUSD spokesperson Ellen T. Morgan said Bieber was not supposed to attend the event. “The school was aware that Mr. Bieber was at the venue recording, but was assured that he would not come out to interfere with the program,” she said in a statement to Yahoo Music.

A spokesperson for Bieber confirmed that he was not booked to appear at the dance. "He was in the area and heard and just crashed,“ the representative told Yahoo Music.

Morgan added Bieber entered the event without permission. "His entourage pushed past the school’s security to gain access to the dance floor and was there for three to four minutes,” she continued.

The district was concerned about putting attendees at risk. “From the students’ perspective it was a once in a lifetime experience to have him at their prom, but we were extremely concerned for the safety of both our students as well as Mr. Bieber. No student was injured while he was there,” Morgan added.

The students, however, argued that Bieber’s appearance made their prom the best ever:
