Jordin Sparks Calls Out Ex Jason Derulo on 'How Bout Now' Remix

Jordin Sparks offers her side of the story about her breakup with Jason Derulo in a new dis track, a remix to Drake’s “How Bout Now.” The Season 6 American Idol winner abandons her politically correct good-girl image in the expletive-filled song from her new mixtape, Bye Felicia, out Tuesday at 11:11 a.m. PT.

Sparks challenges Derulo, whom she dated seriously for almost three years, regarding his claims about their split. “Can’t believe all the things you started saying / Like I’m with you for your fame and your name,” she sings, adding that he also said she “tried to lock” him in with a baby.

Sparks also accuses Derulo of being egotistical: “Always been Mommy’s little angel / Once you blew up / Head got big and you started changing.” She even makes reference to helping Derulo recover from a near-fatal accident in 2012. “Remember when you broke your neck and I had to wash your back for ya?” she asks. ” You probably don’t remember half the s—- I did for ya.”

Then she throws a sarcastic jab on the chorus, “You didn’t really f—- with me way back then / But how ‘bout now?”

In an interview with the L.A. Leakers, who debuted the track, Sparks said, “Life is too short. I think people will be able to relate to that and feel that too.”

If “How Bout Now” is any indication of what Sparks is singing about on the other songs on Bye Felicia, we are feeling nervous for Derulo.
