Jamestown Revival Discusses 'Utah,’ Performs Acoustic ‘Golden Age’

Longtime friends Jonathan Clay and Zach Chance (also known collectively as folk duo Jamestown Revival) take the “revival” part of their moniker seriously: As they note, the band is “more than music. It’s an idea, and it’s a movement. It’s grass roots, and it’s back porch. Our strength is in numbers, but our individuality is ever present. We appreciate the simpler things, and we know where we came from. We value timelessness over trendiness, and quality over quantity.”

In this interview piece, the guys discuss the inspiration and making of Utah — which was recorded “live to tape, old school,” in a cabin in the state it is named for.

The set, which was originally self-released early in 2014 and then re-released by Republic Records, was named Best Singer-Songwriter Album of the Year by iTunes.

Additionally, they showed off just how organic and pure their sound is on the new record by performing the single “Golden Age” acoustically.

Jamestown Revival is currently on tour and will be playing California’s lauded Coachella festival next month. To keep up with their schedule, check here.
