Ice Cube is reuniting with MC Ren and DJ Yella to perform N.W.A songs for the first time in 20 years. The three will perform during the BET Experience show at Los Angeles’ Staples Center on June 27. Ice Cube, MC Ren and DJ Yella will be performing alongside billed artists Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar and ScHoolboy Q.

“It’s just gonna be a great night,” Ice Cube tells Rolling Stone. “We’re gonna be there with Snoop, Kendrick Lamar, ScHoolboy Q. It’s just gonna be one of those ‘I wish I were there in L.A. nights.’ And we’re gonna rock that shit, no problem.”

The last time Cube performed with Yella was 1989, he continued to tell Rolling Stone. He performed with Ren in 2000 for the Up in Smoke Tour.

Now for the question: Will Dr. Dre perform with Cube, Yella and Ren? “You know, if you wish upon a star, you never know,” Cube said. “I hope he blesses us with his presence.” N.W.A consisted of Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, the late Eazy-E, DJ Yella, MC Ren. Arabian Prince, also an original member, left N.W.A the same year they joined forces in 1988.

The reunion performance comes close to two months before the premiere of the N.W.A biopic, Straight Outta Compton. The film, co-produced by Dre and Eazy-E’s widow Tomica Woods-Wright, will make its debut on August 14.
