'I Bet' Ciara's Ex Hates Her New Ballad

I hate to say it, but Ciara’s breakup with Future, her child’s father and ex-fiancé, is the reboot her career needed.

Her new stripped-down ballad, “I Bet,” is the antithesis of the music video for her 2013 hit “Body Party” — the one where Future holds her hand and promises, “You know you gon’ be mine right?” and elsewhere she dances seductively for him in her lingerie.

Though Ciara is known for being a visual artist (she is her era’s Janet Jackson of the stage), she decided to take a seat for an acoustic rendition of “I Bet.”

There’s no sense in wasting good choreography when she’s got a post-breakup message this juicy. So with three background vocalists, Ciara sings to a nameless ex, “I bet you’ll start loving me as soon as I start loving somebody else.”

Though she admits that she “loved” this former beau, she has bid him and his new girl good riddance: “You can keep that b**ch over there / Givin’ me the ugly stare / The one with the silicon a** / and the Brazilian hair.” Ouch.

Sounds like aside from co-parenting, Ciara’s days with Future are definitely a thing of the past.
