High School Senior Recreates ‘Coming To America’ For Prom And Kills It

Prom season is in full swing, and gone are the days when high school teens are shopping at the mall for their formal function. Now, young men and women are breaking out their Sunday’s best to show up and show out for their final lap as high school students.

Jawana Young from Benton Harbor, Mich refused to be outdone and decided to pay homage to the 1988 classic film Coming To America. Young wore a high pony tail and gold floor length gown mimicking the same dress a young Vanessa Bell Calloway wore during the iconic “She’s Your Queen To Be” scene.

Young’s longer than life train was held by a friend (pictured above) who also sang the classic song as she sashayed down a red carpet. Young’s date joined in on the fun and dressed as Prince Akeem, full fur stole and all.

The video, which was uploaded May 21, has been shared close to 10,000 times on Facebook, with many elated in awe of how Young encapsulated the iconic film.
