Over the past few months, avid 2Pac fans have drooled over the first few trailers for the late rapper's forthcoming biopic All Eyez on Me. With Demetrius Shipp Jr. taking the leading role in the film, the actor revealed the official release date for the highly anticipated flick.
An Instagram clip filmed during Shipp's birthday party unveiled that the movie is slated to hit theaters on June 16, 2017 (a rep for the film also confirmed the date to Billboard). The date also serves as what would have been the MC's 46th birthday.
Directed by acclaimed music video director Benny Boom, All Eyez on Me will document Tupac Shakur's meteoric rise to fame as a West Coast rapper in the '90s. The biopic will also expound on his tumultuous relationship with Biggie Smalls, his time with Death Row Records, and his untimely death in 1996.
Jamal Woolward, who took on the role of The Notorious B.I.G. in the 2009 film Notorious, will reprise his role in All Eyez on Me. Dominic L. Santana will also portray notorious music exec Suge Knight.
