Hear It First: Tweet Returns With Empowering Single ‘Won’t Hurt Me’

It’s been 10 years since Tweet (born Charlene Keys) released her last full-length album, her sophomore set, 2005’s It’s Me Again. After exploding on the scene with her sweet angelic voice on hits “Oops (Oh My)” and “Cab Ride,” plus a number of collaborations with the likes of Missy Elliott, Monica, and P. Diddy, she’s working on a comeback album slated for 2016.

The first single “Won’t Hurt Me,” out on Sept. 21, premieres exclusively on Yahoo Music.

On the acoustic guitar track, Tweet’s voice soothes as she tells a lover that she’s tired of his ways and has decided to move on with her head held high. She sings, “Do whatever it is you got to do / It won’t hurt me.”

Tweet anticipates releasing Charlene next year. “I am beyond excited that I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to team up with eOne and release the first single,” she says via statement. “I can’t wait for my supporters to hear this project and take them along this new chapter of self-discovery.”

Charlene includes contributions from some of Tweet’s longtime collaborations and producers – Craig Brockman, Nisan Stewart, John “Jubu” Smith, and Charlie Bereal. Missy also makes an appearance.
