Hear It First! Musical Drama ‘Song One’ Poised to Release Soundtrack
Song One, a romantic drama set against the backdrop of Brooklyn¹s vibrant modern-folk music scene, charmed both music and film fans alike when it premiered in competition earlier this year at the 2014 Sundance Festival.
The film, starring Anne Hathaway, Mary Steenburgen, and Johnny Flynn, features original songs performed by Flynn — who is also a singer and says the movie seemed penned just for him — and written by Jenny Lewis (Rilo Kiley, The Postal Service, Jenny and Johnny) and Johnathan Rice (Jenny and Johnny).
The songs were recorded simultaneously with the film schedule, Flynn explains: He spent his time in the recording studio on days they weren’t shooting –resulting in an “amazing souvenir” of the film itself.
