Hear It First: India.Arie and Jonathan McReynolds Are in Perfect Harmony on ‘Whole’
Few duet partners blend as perfectly on a song as gospel singer Jonathan McReynolds and soul siren India.Arie, who team up for McReynolds’s new track, “Whole,” from his sophomore album, Life Music: Stage Two, out Sept. 18.

Though McReynolds and India.Arie alternate singing lines from the song, their pitches and stylings are such a match, it takes a close listen to distinguish them. On the contemporary Christian ballad, they sing about the joys of God making them whole.
The public first witnessed the pair performing together at the 2014 BET’s Celebration of Gospel. India joined McReynolds onstage for a medley of the gospel singer’s “No Gray” and her own “Moved By You.” Nicki Minaj was among the fans of McReynolds’s set.

McReynolds, who lists India among his influences, told BET that he was surprised to learn that India was a fan of his music. “We talked before and after the show, of course, and the fact that she was a fan of my music and is somebody that I consider one of my primary influences, I just thought it was incredible that she had heard of me,” he said.
