Hear It First: Gov’t Mule Offers Up ‘Slave’

Beloved jamsters Gov’t Mule’s upcoming Stoned Side of the Mule Volume 2 live archival album is being released for Record Store Day on April 18th. It is the last installment in their live archival series celebrating their 20th anniversary, and features six Rolling Stones covers, recorded on Halloween 2009 at the Tower Theatre in Philadelphia. All the tunes are newly edited and mastered with the vinyl lacquers cut from the old Stax Records lathe in Memphis.

Yahoo Music is excited to premiere one of these, “Slave,” for fans to get an early taste. Enjoy!

“‘Slave’ seems like one of those songs that probably arose out of a jam,” says frontman Warren Haynes. “One of the funkiest Stones grooves ever. Not everybody knows it but everybody loves it!”
