Hear Common's Upbeat Remix of Solange's 'Cranes in the Sky'

Common has debuted an unofficial remix of Solange Knowles' A Seat at the Table standout "Cranes in the Sky." Knowles' album is first full-length LP since 2008's Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams.

Common places his verse before the Knowles' full song, dropping it above the cool, effervescent beat. "She seen the pain in my eye/ Men and women at work/ Cranes in the sky/ We gon' keep building/ For our children's children," he says in the introduction. The rapper also references Issa Rae's new show Insecure and another track from Knowles' album, "Don't Touch My Hair."

In a statement to The Fader, Common said he was instantly influenced by the song. "Every once and a few years, there are certain songs that come out and have the sound of forever," he said. "Every time I listened to it, I keep wanting to hear it again and again. I started mumbling some words to it and then decided I want to write a verse. This is an unofficial remix simply inspired by the love of art."
