Gucci Mane and Future Release Joint Mixtape 'Free Bricks 2: Zone 6 Edition': Listen

Billboard

Gucci Mane and Future have long mastered the art of surprise, with both rappers having a history of releasing projects consecutively with no promotion. On Monday night (Nov. 14), Gucci Mane heightened speculation around a release of some sort after tweeting "10:17pm it's going uppppppp!!!!" followed by a line of Santa emojis. He later unwrapped the gift he teased and released the joint mixtape Free Bricks 2: Zone 6 Edition with fellow Atlanta rapper Future.

The 6-song collaborative project is the sequel to 2011's Free Bricks which featured a handful of guest appearances but on Free Bricks 2: Zone 6 Edition, GuWop and Hendrix keep the heat flowing strictly between them two. Despite having no features, the mixtape's booming bass-lines see production from the rapper's frequent collaborators Zaytoven, Metro Boomin and Southside.

"Last night, me and Future met up in Atlanta. We ditched our entourages, we didn't book my usual studio, or his usual studio…it's like we knew we wanted to fly under the radar," Gucci told Miss Info about the project. "There was like this positive competition in the room. I'd hear him go in on a verse, and I knew I had to step up."

Since becoming a free man, Gucci Mane has dished out a steady flow of material and is even featured on Rae Sremmurd's "Black Beatles," which just hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Y'all ready?

"Even Future didn't think we were dropping this tonight. This is the freshest it can get," he continued. "These joints ain't even 24 hours old. That's like bringing you in the studio with us."
