New Gremlins Soundtrack Vinyl Does Cool Stuff When Exposed to Light or Water

By Kevin Lozano.

Mondo has announced a new 2xLP vinyl reissue of Jerry Goldsmith’s soundtrack for Gremlins. Like the 1984 movie’s titular monsters, the vinyl soundtrack will do some crazy things when exposed to light and water. The album’s front cover reveals hidden messages when exposed to UV light, and the two water sensitive disc sleeves display more images when dampened. The reissue is out Wednesday, November 30 at 1 p.m. Eastern. Below, see the artwork (by Phantom City Creative) before and after exposure to the elements.

Today, Mondo released a vinyl reissue of the Fight Club soundtrack; it is the first time in over 15 years that the Dust Brothers’ score has been released on wax. Recently, the label has also put out vinyl editions of the scores for Netflix’s Marvel shows “Jessica Jones” and “Daredevil.” A physical release for the “Marvel’s Luke Cage” score (which was composed by Adrian Younge and a Tribe Called Quest’s Ali Shaheed Muhammad) is forthcoming.
