The funeral for George Michael took place in London Wednesday (March 29), three months after his sudden death on Christmas Day, as confirmed by reps to People.
In a statement obtained by the publication, a rep said, "We can confirm that the funeral of the singer George Michael took place today. Family and close friends gathered for the small, private ceremony to say goodbye to their beloved son, brother and friend."
Michael was reportedly buried at London's Highgate Cemetery, a source told People -- next to his mother, Lesley, who passed away 20 years ago.
"George Michael's family would like to thank his fans across the world for their many messages of love and support," the statement continued. "We ask that the family's wish for privacy be respected so that they can continue to live their lives privately, away from any media intrusion. No further details will be released."
Michael's burial comes three weeks after Darren Salter (senior coroner for Oxfordshire) revealed that the singer -- who passed away at his home in Oxfordshire county, southern England on Dec. 25 of 2016 -- died of "dilated cardiomyopathy with myocarditis and fatty liver." He was 53.
