George Clinton, A$AP Rocky Headline Month-Long Red Bull Music Academy

This May, the annual Red Bull Music Academy Festival will once again invade New York with a month’s worth of performances, conversations, parties, record fairs and other unique music-related events. George Clinton, A$AP Rocky and FKA twigs are among those who have scheduled events in association with the RBMA fest. The Funkadelic legend will host “A Conversation with George Clinton” on May 12th at the Brooklyn Museum, while the Long.Live.A$AP rapper will stage a similar event on May 7th at an as-yet-unannounced location. 2014’s breakout singer FKA twigs will perform May 17th and 18th at Brooklyn Hangar at an event dubbed Congregata.

Other events include the 100 Disciplines: A Composition for 20 Drummers show at the Brooklyn Museum on May 3rd, TriAngle Records’ 5th anniversary party on May 15th at 23 Wall Street featuring a performance by Björk collaborator the Haxan Cloak, the Yardcore: Dancehall in the Park party on May 10th at Fort Greene Park and the Brooklyn Flea Record Fair on May 16th. The fest will close out with a two-night all-star bonanza dedicated to Arthur Russell. “Master Mix: Red Hot + Arthur Russell” will go down May 29th and 30th at the Brooklyn Academy of Music and among the many performers taking the stage for the event are Arcade Fire’s Richard Reed Parry, Neon Indian, Blood Orange’s Dev Hynes, Scissor Sisters’ Jake Shears, Cults, Thao Nguyen and more. Together, the artists will perform selections from the Red Hot Organization’s Russell compilation.
