This month, Genius will launch its new series Genius Level with The-Dream as their inaugural guest.
The newly-developed series will focus on the music industry's most decorated artists, songwriters, and executives. Every quarter, Genius will have a new guest to speak on their journey in music. For over a decade, The-Dream (real name Terius Nash) has been known for his prolific catalog and penning a wide range of hits including Rihanna's "Umbrella," Beyonce's "Single Ladies," "Justin Bieber's "Baby" and Britney Spears' "Me Against the Music."
Veteran music journalist and Genius's Head of Artist Relations, Rob Markman, will be on hosting duties to celebrate the singer's heralded career. "The-Dream has soundtracked our most passionate love affairs and gut-wrenching break-ups. He has a song for every emotion we've ever felt, and that's how we knew we had to have him for our first-ever Genius Level," he says. "We're going to go through all the feels."
With The-Dream serving as the premier guest, he'll dive into his songwriting prowess behind some of pop and hip-hop's mega hits. "Writing a song is about inhabiting a specific frame of mind and conjuring a mood, a character, an entire vision. Whether I'm working with a Top 40 artist or crafting my own music, it goes back to one thing: telling a powerful story and having that story resonate with people," says the singer-songwriter. "Genius is about elevating artists and songwriters and shining a light on the stories behind the songs, and that's exactly what I'm going to get into with Rob at Genius Level. I have a lot of stories to tell."
The live interview for Genius Level will take place on May 16 at Genius' Brooklyn headquarters.
