The 2017 SXSW Music Conference has added a special conversation between country titan Garth Brooks and Amazon Music Vice President Steve Boom on March 17. The Brooks talk was announced on Thursday (March 2) along with an additional keynote address from Jigsaw Director of Research and Development Yasmin Green (March 14) and a slew of new featured speakers.
Among the names joining this year's roster in Austin are: Michael Faye, Olympic gold medalist Kerri Walsh Jennings, rap icon Darryl "DMC" McDaniels, Surgeon General of the United States Vivek Murthy, director and immersive artist Chris Milk, actor Nick Offerman, singer-songwriter Mike Posner, actress Jenny Slate, Recode co-founder Kara Swisher, Game of Thrones actresses Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams and rapper T.I.
They join the previously announced list of 2017 SXSW keynotes: director Lee Daniels (3/12), geneticist Jennifer Doudna (3/11), actor Gareth Edwards (3/13), Wharton professor Adam Grant (3/13), interviewer Zane Lowe (3/16), adventurer Cory Richards (3/10), Chic founder Nile Rodgers (3/15), Texas Competes' Jessica Shortall (3/12) Transparent creator and Jill Soloway (3/11).
Brooks will speak with Amazon Music's Boom as part of the Music Influencers panel. "This diverse, eclectic group of icons, artists, and pioneers represent the spirit of unexpected discovery SXSW has become known for," said Hugh Forrest, SXSW Chief Programming Officer in a statement. "I'm so excited that the new badge system will empower more of our attendees to discover even more of this great content."
Among the other featured speakers at this year's fest are rappers A$AP Ferg, Fred Armisen, Warren G and Residente.
