Future, Lil' Kim, 50 Cent, T.I. & More Remember Shawty Lo

Billboard

Following the news of Shawty Lo's tragic death in a car crash on Wednesday (Sept. 21), many rappers took to social media to pay tribute to the Atlanta MC. Shawty Lo was the hitmaker behind 2008's "Dey Know," and a member of the Southern hip-hop group D4L, who released the Billboard Hot 100-topping hit "Laffy Taffy" in 2005.

Timelines were flooded with condolences to those close to Shawty Lo (real name Carlos Walker), who was a father to 11 children. A candlelight vigil in his native Bankhead neighborhood was also held on Wednesday night (Sept. 21), per an Instagram post from his manager, Johnnie Cabbell, while Shawty Lo's final music video "Put Some Respek On It" also hit the Internet.

See the heartfelt messages in memory of Shawty Lo below.

Damn!!! I just woke up to some Bullshit News...RIP to a true Westside Atlanta Legend!!!!! You truly represented Bankhead to the fullest!!! My Heart goes out to his family, and his children as well. Even through our toughest times I must admit I was impressed,& kinda proud of how well you rep'd our hood, and how much you cared for it. It was a real relief to have someone else helping to lift Bankhead up & hold it there. Can't say enough about how much you meant to the city. Glad we matured beyond our trivial personal differences in time enough to have a laugh about it as neighbors. For those of us who were around & "in the mix" in the mid-late 90's,we know the "Legend of Lo" started waaaay before Music. We salute U G!!!! Rest easy,You'll truly be missed. #RIPShawtyLo #TrueAtlantaLegend
