From Rock Star to Art Star: Sean Yseult
During White Zombie's 11-year career, band co-founder and bassist Sean Yseult played an active role in helping to shape the look and sound of one of the most artistic hard rock acts, from an alternative noise project into a streamlined industrial metal band. But even before she was a stadium-rocking musician, she was an active photographer and got a degree in graphic design from New York's Parsons New School for Design, where she met Rob Zombie. She carried a camera with her wherever she went and eventually collected a revealing and powerful assortment of images she used in her book, 'I'm In the Band: Backstage Notes From the Chick in White Zombie.' After White Zombie broke up in 1998, Yseult formed he own design company and spent more time focusing on photography. Here in her own words, she tells the stories behind her greatest pieces.
Yseult's current gallery exhibit, 'Soirée D’Evolution: Tableaux Vivants et Nature Mortes,' will be on display at the Scott Edwards Gallery, 2109 Decatur St, New Orleans, in full through June 14, 2015, with a partial display from June 18 - August 9.
