Frank Zappa Hologram Going on Tour

Featuring “rare and unheard material”

Earlier this year, a Ronnie James Dio hologram tour was announced. Today, Eyellusion, the company behind that hologram, has announced a new partnership with the Zappa Family Trust to develop Frank Zappa hologram shows. The hologram will “ go back out on tour playing his most well-known music as well as some rare and unheard material,” according to Zappa’s son Ahmet Zappa. Musicians including Steve Vai, Ian Underwood, Adrian Belew, Arthur Barrow, and more are set to collaborate on the new project, which goes into production later this year. Tour dates are planned to be announced in 2018.

Eyellusion is also developing a hologram production of Joe’s Garage: The Musical, the adaptation of Zappa’s rock opera of the same name that made its premiere in 2008, 15 years after his death. The Zappa hologram will play the role of the narrator, known in the story as the “Central Scrutinizer.”
