Exclusive: Who Would George Strait Most Like to Share a Beer With?

When George Strait announced in 2012 he’d be retiring from the road following his Cowboy Rides Away tour, his admirers likely knew it wasn’t the last they’d hear from the King of Country. True to that, Strait delighted fans this fall with the release of a new album, Cold Beer Conversation, as well as the news he’d be playing a 2016 run of shows in Las Vegas.

In this exclusive interview, Strait shares the one person he’d most like to share a beer and a chat with these days – as it turns out, it’s his late father. “Even though he never was a drinker,” Strait laughs. “It would be so fun…we had such great conversations. It’d be awesome to do that again.”

One of the tracks on Strait’s new album, “Everything I See,” was actually written about his dad, who passed away a couple of years ago. The song was written by Strait, along with his son Bubba Strait and Dean Dillon and Keith Gattis.

In this clip, Strait shares the exact frame of mind that he was in when the album title hit him. “The perfect thing to do is have a cold beer conversation when listening to this album,” he smiles.
