Drake Responds To Kanye West Sampling His Uncle On “No More Parties In L.A.”
The most surprising aspect of Mr. Kanye West’s latest song, “No More Parties In L.A.” is not that the rapper recorded it while working on his 2010 effort, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, but that he samples a song from the uncle of another famous MC.
Larry Graham, the uncle of one Aubrey Drake Graham, was a bassist for the group Sly and the Family Stone. He was also the frontman for his own group, Graham Central Station. His song “Stand Up and Shout About Love” from his 1980s album One In A Million You was sampled near the end of the new Yeezy/Kendrick Lamar joint, released this past Monday (Jan. 18). The song is rumored to be on West’s forthcoming SWISH album, slated for a Feb. 11 release.
Drake shouted out to his Tio Larry, and used the caption to make light of West’s sample on Instagram in a post on Tuesday.
