The Dodos Remember Their Pain in 'Substance' - Song Premiere

San Francisco indie-rock duo the Dodos will release their fifth album, Carrier, on August 27th on Polyvinyl and have just announced a huge, 32-date North American tour for fall. The band sees the record as a return to their roots, a move inspired by the group's uncertain future and the sudden passing of onetime guitarist Chris Reimer (also of Women).

Now you can take an exclusive first listen to another new album cut, "Substance," which follows up first single "Confidence" and carries all the marks of a fine Dodos track. The off-kilter stomp of Logan Kroeber's drums come washed in cymbal crashes and carry the rushing strum of Meric Long's guitar melodies, while midway through, an upswell of horns provide the perfect accompaniment for Meric's repeated cry of "But you will forget and I will remember!"
