Joel Zimmerman (better known as Deadmau5) has announced he will teach a new electronic music production course through Masterclass, a company that has previously offered classes from artists such as Usher, Werner Herzog, and Aaron Sorkin. The course will include a look into Zimmerman’s Ableton sessions, and will feature the producer’s advice on writing melodies, mix techniques, sound design, and more.
“My MasterClass is a no-bulls--t look into what it takes to make great music, and it’s not just buying millions of dollars worth of gear,” he said in a press release. “I’m going to show my students how to play with sounds and mix melodies they can share with the world. I’ve never done something at this depth before.” Select students’ work will also be critiqued by Zimmerman himself.
You can pre-enroll for the online class here and check out a trailer for the class below. Deadmau5 recently announced his new album, W:/2016ALBUM/, out December 2 via mau5trap.
