Dawes were keen to move beyond the "throwback" label on their latest album, Stories Don't End, but the band certainly displayed a knack for a classic, sunny California rock sound when they performed last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Singer Taylor Goldsmith sang in warm, melodic tones on "From a Window Seat" over an easy-rolling mix of guitars, keyboards, bass and drums, before pausing to unfurl a stinging guitar solo.
