Neo-soul standout Cody Chesnutt puts a warm, vintage R&B stamp on "I've Been Life," the latest clip from his second album, Landing an a Hundred. Chesnutt appears in the company of costumed warriors in this uplifting video, which bridges the decade-long gap between his current disc and 2002's The Headphone Masterpiece while serving as a rousing call to arms.
"There's a fresh, creative energy and rising consciousness on the African continent and throughout the diaspora," Chesnutt tells Rolling Stone of the vibrant song and video. "'I've Been Life' is one of the many ways in which I hope to make a healthy contribution to this promising movement."
In continued support of Landing on a Hundred – which came out last October – Chesnutt will perform a one-off "Barefoot at the Belmont" gig in Dallas on August 8th. Then, on September 5th, he will launch a proper U.S. tour at the Neptune in Seattle.
