Trending K-pop group TWICE and pop-rock band CNBLUE are the first acts revealed to be heading to KCON NY this June.
On Thursday, KCON USA revealed that the two K-pop idol groups will be performing during the headlining concerts at the third annual KCON NY. The Korean culture convention and music festival will be held June 23-24 at Newark, New Jersey's Prudential Center.
CNBLUE has been one of the K-pop industry's most prominent rock-focused idol groups ever since they released their first album Bluetory in 2010. The quartet has explored a variety of styles over the years, with their most recent albums -- including last month's 7°CN -- incorporating electronic and dance music into the band's pop/rock sound. KCON NY will be the third time CNBLUE's performed at a KCON event; they previously appeared at KCON LA 2014 and will perform at KCON Japan in May.
Nine-member girl group TWICE has been one of K-pop's most popular acts since they debuted in 2015 with "Like Ooh-Ahh," landing three of their EPs in the top 10 of the World Albums Chart. Since their beginning, the team has seen multiple songs go viral, with the videos for their four singles racking up over 500 million combined views on YouTube. Known for their infectious dance-pop songs, TWICE performed at KCON Japan and LA last year and will now bring their cheery songs to KCON NY.
Along with two nights of concerts, KCON NY will feature specialized programming revolving around Korean pop culture, beauty, food, and e-sports.
KCON USA will then head to Los Angeles' Convention Center and the Staples Center for KCON LA in August. Both events are produced by CJ E&M and its music channel, Mnet.
Additional performers and ticketing information will be announced in the weeks and months leading up to both KCON NY and KCON LA.
