Chris Martin Opens Up About His 'Weird' and 'Wonderful' Divorce – and Reveals Beyoncé Once Called One of His Songs 'Awful'

Hot off Coldplay's Pepsi Super Bowl 50 Halftime Show set, Chris Martin's gracing the cover of Rolling Stone, in which he opened up about everything from his conscious uncoupling from Gwyneth Paltrow to coming up against creative differences with pal Beyoncé in the studio.

Since announcing their split almost two years ago, Martin, 38, and Paltrow, 43, remain the friendliest of exes.

"I have a very wonderful separation-divorce," he told Rolling Stone. "It's a divorce – but it's a weird one ... I don't think about that word [divorce] very often ... I don't see it that way. I see it as more like you meet someone, you have some time together and things just move through."

Paltrow was even in the crowd supporting Martin's band at the Super Bowl, where she also played babysitter to family friends Jay Z and Beyoncé's 4-year-old daughter Blue Ivy.

Martin also opened up to the music glossy about teaming up with Queen Bey. While they're eyeing a hit with their new party-starter ''Hymn for the Weekend,'' the ''Formation'' singer once shut down another song called "Hook Up."

"In the sweetest way possible: She told me, 'I really like you – but this is awful,'" Martin recalls of pitching her the track.

" Rocky IV has the most awesome training sequence of all time. I think it triggers the young boy in me who saw it and was like, 'Wow – if you wanna do something, just f---ing lift logs!'" he said. "If Rocky eats it, I do, too."
