You Can't Always Get What You Want: The Rolling Stones Are the Latest to Pull the Plug On Trump's Rally Music

The Rolling Stones have no sympathy for the Donald.

The band's spokesperson said in a statement to NBC News that the British musicians have "never given permission to the [ Donald Trump] campaign to use their songs and have requested that they cease all use immediately."

Trump's campaign soundtrack has included the Stones' 1969 tune "You Can't Always Get What You Want," as well as 1981's "Start Me Up," according to NBC News.

The iconic rockers are just the latest musicians to issue a cease-and-desist (both formal and informal) against the Republican party's presumptive nominee.



R.E.M. frontman Michael Stipe previously blasted Trump for using the band's song "It's the End of the World as We Know It (And I Feel Fine)" on the campaign, telling The Daily Beast in an email, "Go f--- yourselves, the lot of you – you sad, attention-grabbing, power-hungry little men."

He continued, "Do not use our music or my voice for your moronic charade of a campaign."

Before that, Neil Young told PEOPLE in an official statement that Trump was not authorized to use "Rockin' in the Free World" during his campaign announcement last year.

Even without a perfect playlist, it seems Trump has solidified his place on the GOP ticket. After winning the Indiana primary, rivals Ted Cruz and John Kasich both left the race. Resistance against Trump may be crumbling, with numerous Republicans announcing their support on Wednesday.
