Houston high school student Ebony Banks, who had been fighting a rare form of stage IV cancer, died on Sunday (Mar. 27), just days after FaceTiming her idol Beyoncé, according to People. Local publication Click2Houston reports that a candlelight vigil was held for Banks on Sunday night (Mar. 26) at Hastings High School, where Banks had been a student.
The teen's ultimate wish to meet Queen Bey came true after her family and classmates started a social media campaign on her behalf. The shared hashtag #ebobmeetsbeyonce received thousands of heartfelt retweets, which got through to the pop icon. Beyoncé surprised Banks with a FaceTime video call while in the hospital. They exchanged sweet "I love you"s that were captured on screen shots and recorded on video

The family and friends of Banks gathered at the a candlelight vigil on Sunday to paying tribute to the late teen, by playing Beyoncé songs throughout the night.
