Bruno Mars Brings '24K Magic' to 'Saturday Night Live': Watch

It's sometimes easy to forget that "Uptown Funk" is actually a Mark Ronson song featuring Bruno Mars, so it doesn't really feel like nearly four years have passed since Mars released his Unorthodox Jukebox album.

But the wait is nearly over, and on the Emily Blunt-hosted Saturday Night Live last evening (Oct. 15) the singer and his band gave the world a taste of the forthcoming album 24K Magic, which is due on Nov. 18.

For the album's title track and first single, Mars and his backing singer-dancers made the rare move of entering the show with the cameras following them from backstage -- as the show often does with its openings -- not arriving on the stage proper until the song was nearly half over.

And while their second appearance, the hitherto-unaired "Chunky," was more conventional in its staging, the song is a dazzling tour-de-force for Mars as a singer: He channels his inner Michael Jackson and tears up the somewhat misleadingly titled soul ballad, proving that among his many talents -- songwriter, dancer, bandleader, producer -- he's also one of the very best singers working today.
