The X Factor, The Day After: Top 4 Performances Dish

On last night's semifinal, "The X Factor" top four performed, singing two songs apiece--one they chose themselves, and one selected (read: forced upon them) by their respective mentors. Surprisingly--or perhaps unsurprisingly, given the mentors' spotty track records this season--the contestants' picks were all the better calls. Are these mentors even necessary, really?

Today, my "The Day After" co-host Matt Whitfield and I debate that issue, as well as discuss this week's performances and try to answer other burning questions. Did Carly Rose Sonenclar have an off night? Was L.A. Reid insane to compare Emblem3 to the Beatles? Do Fifth Harmony have any sort of chance of surviving tonight's elimination show? Let's discuss.
