Willow Smith may be just 12 years old, but she's sounding and looking all grown up in a video for her new project, Melodic Chaotic.
The daughter of Will Smith and Jada-Pinkett Smith teamed up with DJ MVSIC Fabrega to release the video for "Summer Fling," which is filled with scenes of summer-time fun including frolicking with friends at a pool party and dancing around a campfire.
Interestingly, the song is a huge departure from her "Whip My Hair" days and showcases a less frenetic, more mature, indie sound. It's an upbeat, stripped-down slow jam with subtle keyboard loops and far less bass than her 2010 hit single. It's also incredibly catchy and will likely leave listeners grooving in no time.
In the tune, Smith sings about a brief summertime fling that she wishes would never end: "It's just a couple months but we do it anyway/It's only for the summer but we do it anyway." Smith also speaks throughout the song in an English accent that she's mysteriously developed, offering her phone number to the object of her affection and suggesting they hang out some time.
This song is a precursor to Melodic Chaotic's debut EP, which is reportedly due to be released later this summer. Based on this jammin' new tune, we're looking forward to hearing it.
