Fifth Harmony's first hit may have been the kiss-off anthem "Miss Movin' On," and their debut EP may include a song called "Leave My Heart Out of This"…but Camila Cabello, Lauren Jauregui, Dinah Jane Hansen, Normani Kordei, and Ally Hernandez have some pretty positive thoughts when it comes to the subject of romance.
With Valentine's Day approaching, we asked the "X Factor"-spawned girl group to fill out our "POPsessions" questionnaire about the songs, singers, albums, and movies that make them feel all lovey-dovey inside. Come feel the girl-powered love and read on!
Who was your first musical crush?
Camila Cabello: My first musical crush was Troy Bolton from "High School Musical." I swore I'd marry him in 3rd grade. Go Wildcats.
Lauren Jauregui: My first musical crush was probably Aaron Carter.
Dinah Jane Hansen: Chris Brown
Normani Kordei: I believe my first musical crush was Bow Wow during his "Like Mike" days. I'd just stand in front of the TV dancing along with him and flirt through the TV.
Ally Hernandez: Josh Groban! :) I was literally OBSESSED with him' I would watch his videos every single day and listen to his music every day.
What song was playing during your first kiss?
Camila: There was no music playing. ooOOOooo.
Dinah: "How to Love" by Lil Wayne or "It Would be You, by Trey Songz or "She's my Only One," by Jboog.
Normani: There was actually no music playing; more like a movie.
Ally: There wasn't a song playing, it just happened!
What is the best makeout song of all time?
Camila: I've always wanted to kiss someone to "Kiss Me," by Ed Sheeran. But I always say Ed Sheeran for everything music-related. So I'll say "Constant Conversations," by Passion Pit or "Hold You," by Gyptian.
Lauren: Beyoncé's " No Angel"
Dinah: "End of the Road," by Boyz II Men
Normani: "Won't Stop"
Ally: Probably "Kiss Me," by Ed Sheeran :)
What's the best breakup song ever?
Camila: The best breakup song ever is Taylor Swift's "All Too Well." The way she fills it with details from the relationship and she describes all their memories and channels that frustration and misery and explains the frustration and misery of remembering something wonderful. Or "Red" because I like the idea that even if they broke up she doesn't regret loving him because it was a love.
Lauren: Any Kelly Clarkson song hahaa
Dinah: "Beautiful Mistake," by Keri Hilson or "Irreplaceable," by Beyoncé
Normani: "Irreplaceable" by my Queen B
Ally: Maybe "Since U Been Gone!"
What song would you want playing during your first wedding dance?
Camila: Probably the Dougie or the Wobble. Or the CHA CHA slide. You can never go wrong with the CHA CHA slide. And then whatever "our song" was. Like the first song we kissed to or danced to or a song we dedicated to each other— it would be the boogie and then all the cute stuff.
Lauren: Either "Slow Dancing in a Burning Room" by John Mayer or a song that I haven't come across yet 'cause I'm 17 and don't really tend to think about my wedding haha.
Dinah: "Flightless Bird" by American Mouth or "River Flows in You" by Yiruma
Normani: "At Last" by Etta James
Ally: "The Way You Look Tonight" :)
What love song makes you cry?
Camila: Every time "Say Something" comes on the radio it makes me cry. It rips my heart out and stomps on it in the best way. The first time I heard it was in the AMAs and I was sitting next to L.A. Reid and I was straight up blubbering.
Lauren: "I'm Yours" by the Script.
Dinah: "Almost is Never Enough" by Ariana Grande, "All of Me" by John Legend, or "Without a Word" by Birdy.
Normani: "Boy Without A Heart" by JoJo
Ally: There are so many haha, but either "Mirrors," "Give Me Love," or "Not a Bad Thing" by Justin Timberlake!
Who is your favorite romantic singer?
Camila: My favorite romantic singer is Taylor Swift. She turns my most complex thoughts and churned-up emotions and finds a way to say it all in one song.
Lauren: I think a lot of different artists have beautiful romantic songs, but Lana Del Rey's have a sort of longing and passion in them that I really appreciate.
Dinah: Mariah Carey
Normani: John Legend
Ally: Ed Sheeran or Justin Timberlake :)
What is your fave album to listen to on a lonely Valentine's Day?
Camila: My fave album to listen to on a lonely Valentine's Day would probably be like a rap album or a Beyoncé album, only because those tend to be less vulnerable, as opposed to if I listened to Ed or Taylor, I'd spend the day crying. The last thing I'd do is listen to love songs on Valentine's Day if I don't have a Valentine. Haha.
Lauren: This is a super-depressing question....
Dinah: "Yours Truly" by Ariana Grande or Tori Kelly
Ally: A lonely one? Maybe a John Mayer album?
Does the idea of a couple making out to your music flatter you, or just freak you out?
Camila: That's ridiculously flattering, it's like our lives are intertwined through two of the greatest things in the world — music and kissing. Yay.
Lauren: Flatters me...not quite sure which one they'd make out to, though haha.
Dinah: It's flattering knowing that our music is a part of their special moment.
Normani: I feel like it's a plus if a song just happens to be playing while them lip-locking, but a bit strange if it's planned like "OK let me turn the music on" & then start kissing.
Ally: Haha, I think it's flattering!
What's the sexiest music video of all time?
Camila: The sexiest music video of all time "Bad Girls" by M.I.A. Is that weird? I just think the music is sexy and the cinematography is sick. But I mean, a "love" music video, definitely "Your Body is a Wonderland" by John Mayer.
Lauren: Any one of Rihanna's takes the cake, she's so hot.
Dinah: " Dance for You" by Beyoncé or "You Da One" by Rihanna or even "Sweet Love" by Chris Brown
Normani: "Body Party" by Ciara
Ally: I love "Dance Again" by J.Lo or "TKO" by JT.
Who's the coolest couple in music?
Camila: The coolest couple in music is Beyoncé and Jay Z. It's a bit scary how cool they are, actually.
Lauren: Jay Z and Queen B
Dinah: Beyoncé and Jay Z or Robin Thicke and Paula Patton
Normani: Bey and Jay-Z! Talk about a power couple.
Ally: Jay Z and Beyoncé!!
What's the most romantic moment in movie history?
Camila: "MOVIE HISTORY" is such a broad topic. I just watched a movie called "Stuck in Love" and there's a part where the main character, he's a boy hopelessly in love with this girl, and he writes about her and he says, "I remember that it hurt. Looking at her hurt."
Lauren: For me it was the part of "The Notebook" when he told her he had written her every day and she was like, "You wrote me?" And he replied, "I wrote you 365 letters...I wrote you every day for a year. It wasn't over, it still ain't over." *Commence passionate kiss in the rain that people felt in their hearts for years to come*
Dinah: "A Walk to Remember"
Ally: One of the moments is the kiss on the boat between Rose and Jack in "Titanic" :)
What romantic movie role do you wish you could play?
Camila: I wish I could play Ally in "The Notebook" because I would have the time of my LIFE looking at Ryan Gosling.
Lauren: Ally from "The Notebook"
Dinah: Jamie in "A Walk to Remember"
Normani: I think it'd be cool to be Rachel McAdams in "The Vow "with Channing Tatum!
Ally: Rose in "Titanic"!
Who is your favorite fairytale princess?
Camila: My favorite fairytale princess is Rapunzel from "Tangled."
Lauren: I love Ariel and Belle (if Alice counts as a princess, though, she's my number 1)
Dinah: Cinderella & Belle
Normani: Princess Tiana from "Princess & The Frog"! She's literally me just in cartoon version #LouisianaGirls
Ally: Belle :)
What is the most romantic city to visit?
Camila: I imagine the most romantic city would be in Italy, but I haven't been there yet!!! We went to Montreal in Canada and it's absolutely lovely.
Lauren: Venice, Italy
Dinah: La'ie, Hawaii
Normani: Paris, France! It's my dream place and to be there with my guy would just be so romantic. Plus the culture is beautiful.
Ally: Of the ones I've visited, either L.A. or NYC :)
Describe your ideal Valentine's Day date.
Camila: I think having someone take the time to plan something out and make you feel special is so sweet. I'm a bit old fashioned/a hopeless romantic but I like the idea of someone actually making an effort to let you know they care, whatever the activity may be. Something as simple as getting you flowers and taking you to their favorite place. It's the thought that counts.
Lauren: I'd just love to be able to spend time with someone I love and go to dinner at our favorite restaurant and then go to the beach at night and just sit on a blanket and talk and be together.
Dinah: A home-cooked meal.
Normani: He'd pick me up and take me to dinner anywhere that specializes in buffalo wings! Haha and then watch a movie.
Ally: I would love to go on a romantic candlelight dinner date at an Italian restaurant. Or go to Disneyland :) or spend the day at the beach...there are so many possibilities!
Flowers or chocolates?
Camila: Flowers, I already have chocolates from last year's Halloween for daaaaaays.
Lauren: Flowers all the way; I don't like chocolates O.o
Normani: Chocolates! Girls gotta eat lol, plus flowers die.
Ally: Both haha :)
Do you watch/hate-watch "The Bachelor"?
Camila: I don't watch "The Bachelor"!
Lauren: Hate-watch, lol sorry.
Dinah: I've never watched it! I watch "Love and Hip-Hop" though? Does that count?
Normani: I don't, but my grandmother is into that show lol.
Ally: I don't watch it but I have a crush on one of the bachelors. :) He's gorgeous.
Overall, are you pro- or anti-Valentine's Day?
Camila: I love love.
Lauren: There's no need to be anti-Valentine's just because you don't have a guy to be all romantic. It's a celebration of love and there's no way I could ever be against that. (:
Normani: Well, I've been lonely every Valentine's Day. lol I'm not anti-Valentine's Day, it's just every time the day is approaching I'm like, "Oh, here we go again" haha. All of my friends are all coupled up and then there's me.
If someone did that "Say Anything" boombox thing outside your window, would you be into it, or call the police?
Camila: I mean, if it was some stalker creep that I didn't know at all, I'd call the police, but if I knew them I'd definitely be into it. Those kinds of gestures are missing these days, I think. It takes a really brave guy to do something like that, cheesy and romantic and it might go terribly wrong and "the girl might think I'm a total foolish creep but I'll do it anyways because I love her." That's really cool.
Lauren: I'd be so into it, I'd probably laugh a bit because that's what I do in any sort of excessive display of emotion 'cause it makes me nervous, but I'd really appreciate the guy for having that kind of courage…no need to call the cops.(:
Normani: I think that's so cute! I'd definitely find that flattering, especially because he's not only letting me know but everyone else. (:
Ally: I would probably cry and kiss that person. lol I would love it! That's so sweet.
