After a lengthy, nearly two-decade run with one record label, the Counting Crows have decided to make a fresh start in 2014 with a new label, Capitol Records, and their first album of new original material since 2008. The set, Somewhere Under Wonderland, made its official debut this week following the release of several singles, including "Earthquake Driver," an enigmatic composition that includes the album's title in its opening lyrics.

Here, Yahoo Music has the very first exclusive look at “Earthquake Driver,” recorded live at Atlantic City's Borgata Event Center.

“We were talking about different kinds of songwriters and different kinds of songwriting,” explains frontman Adam Duritz in a recent interview with Yahoo Music (watch below, and see more of the interview here). Finding that he wasn't as prolific a songwriter in recent years as he used to be, Duritz wondered, "Why don't I write the way I used to write? Where I just let that flow....just letting a stream of consciousness through your head."

He decided to go to bed and sleep on the issue, but ended up running out of his room 40 minutes later. "I was gonna go to bed but I wrote a song instead!" he exclaimed. "And I had the first version and the chorus, the basic music of the song, to 'Earthquake Driver.'"

Needless to say, bedtime was put off for the night, as the entire band's creativity began to flow -- in spades.

In fact, they found themselves working on five songs in a row, right off the bat following this episode. "It just went so fast after that," Duritz says with a smile.
