Phillip Phillips Is a Work of Art in 'Raging Fire' Video
Haters declaring that "American Idol" is over and is no longer a viable platform for rising artists should watch the new music video by Season 11 champion Phillip Phillips and kindly back off. While last year's winner, Candice Glover, has struggled commercially, P-Squared is still going strong.
His quintuple-platinum coronation song, "Home," became the most successful "Idol" single of all time (outselling Kelly, Carrie, et al) and was featured in NBC's Summer Olympics promos and countless films, TV shows, and ads. His second single, "Gone, Gone, Gone," shifted another cool million units. A well-received tour with John Mayer followed, and now, as Phillip prepares to release his full-length sophomore effort "Behind the Light" on May 19, that album's lead single, "Raging Fire," is simultaneously ascending Billboard's Adult Alternative, Hot Adult Contemporary, and Adult Contemporary charts.
Phillip released his "Raging Light" video this week, and it showcases an artsy side of the aw-shucks singer-songwriter, as he is transformed into a living oil painting. After Phillip skipped out on all those Ford music videos during "Idol" Season 11, it's cool to see him do something conceptual like this.
Check out Phillip's new "Raging Fire" video above, and watch his triumphant first television performance of the song, in what is one of "Idol's "best results-show performances ever, below. Everyone, now: "Fiiiiiii-iii-iii-ii-ii-iii-i-i-i-i-ah!"
