Michelle Williams Features Former Destiny’s Child Member in Video
Former Destiny's Child member Michelle Williams features a pretty cool surprise in the video for her new song "If We Had Your Eyes" -- LeToya Luckett.
When Williams joined Destiny's Child in 1999, she was a replacement for Luckett and Latavia Roberson, who had been fired after having disputes with the group's management. For years, rumors pitted all of the group's incarnations against each other.
But Luckett's cameo in William's gospel video makes a bold statement that the women are on good terms.
"If We Had Your Eyes" is about how we would view life differently if we looked at things from God's perspective. In Luckett's scene in the video, she calls a girlfriend who is secretly struggling with depression and self-cutting.
The video is a powerful compliment to the emotional song that also addresses how the public treats the homeless.
Though Williams has spoken about Luckett in past interviews, the ladies shared the history of their friendship during on episode four of Luckett's 2012 online webisode series, "Life, Love & Music."
Luckett said Williams's assistant approached her in 2011 and gave her Williams's number. When Luckett called Williams they immediately bonded. "We talked. I've grown to love this woman," Luckett said. "A lot of times we find ourselves being catty, crabs in a barrel, bucket, pulling each other down, instead of lifting each other up. This should send a message to you."

Williams said the feelings were mutual. "Everybody knows what happened to Destiny's Child," she said. "I thought she would be upset with me even though I just entered into a situation that I thought would be amazing. We just laid it all out there ... The whole group has been able to heal and get some understanding."
