Madonna has announced she has a new face. No, she hasn't issued a statement about plastic surgery, rather she and her daughter, Lola, have announced that 22-year-old Rita Ora has been chosen to the new face of Material Girl, their junior lifestyle brand.
If you're not familiar with lovely Rita, she's a protégé of Jay-Z and a singer in her own right with a trio of number-one singles in the U.K. — "Hot Right Now," "How We Do (Party)" and "R.I.P." — as well as "Ora," a chart-topping album.
Madonna and Lola, apparently speaking in unison, said, "Rita is a talented beauty but what really drew us to her is the confidence she oozes through her music and her unique sense of style. On stage or off, in photos or on the street — she's a magnet! This is what the Material Girl brand is all about!"
Despite the fact she's 54, Madonna can still move quite quickly. The Material Mom only met Rita for the first time last Saturday at the "Sound for Change" concert at Twickenham Stadium in London, so the new deal with done in less than a week.
Rita is quite stoked about it all, posting on Instagram, "Joining forces with Madonna & Lola! It's Official Ritabots—I'm the new face of @MaterialGirl. #thisisamoment for me #icon #mymuse #argghhhhh #yeeeeaaahhhhhhh #excited"
Ora replaces Georgia May Jagger, Mick's youngest, as Material Girl's new face when the brand launches its fall campaign in July. Other stars also associated with Material Girl have included Kelly Osbourne and Taylor Momsen.
If all this inspires you to go out and shop, you can find the Material Girl band exclusively at Macy's in the U.S. and The Bay in Canada, Europe and Australia.
