Kanye West may have been in a happy mood onstage Sunday night--with good reason; he shared the news that he's about to become a dad with girlfriend Kim Kardashian. However, just the night before in Atlantic City, the rapper was in a distinctly less positive frame of mind, vowing that he's going to boycott the 2013 Grammy Awards.
Fans of West are familiar with his long track record of rants in various areas, so when he launched into an expletive-filled dialogue Saturday night, it seemed business as usual. He addressed the press first by slamming their accusations that he is "deranged." He told the audience that he's simply fed up with what he considers subpar offerings in the music, film, and TV worlds. "I'm not crazy," he stated."I'm just not satisfied...I just want y'all to have more."

He went on to discuss how he was told not to rap when he was a producer, due to not having the right appearance--then counted up the number of Grammys he has (18). "All in the black categories, though," he pointed out.
This led to his specific barbs against the Grammy institution, as well as a not-so-veiled criticism of its treatment of hip-hop music: "I love Maroon 5, but when I lost Best New Artist to Maroon 5...you know what I mean?" he said. "Or when Watch the Throne and [My Beautiful] Dark [Twisted] Fantasy, neither of them got nominated for Album of the Year, you know what I mean? Or when 'N----s in Paris' didn't get nominated for Record of the Year, you know what I mean?"
West then raised his voice and screamed, "So don't expect to see me at the Grammys this year, you know what I mean?!!"
West is one of the top nominees at the upcoming 2013 Grammy Awards show in February. He received six nods total, including two of his songs in the Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song categories. He has been nominated for both Album and Song Of The Year several times, but has never won in those particular categories.
