Reality RocksJuliet Simms Says Jermaine Paul Deserved to Win ‘The Voice’
When it came down to Jermaine Paul and Juliet Simms in the final two on Tuesday night's "The Voice" finale, many fans (myself included) thought Juliet was the clear champion. And when that wasn't how it went down, and Jermaine won instead, many fans (myself included) thought Juliet had been totally robbed. But speaking backstage with me after the finale, Juliet was in high spirits and totally Team Jermaine. In fact, when Jermaine arrived on the red carpet towards the end of our interview, she cheered along with everyone else.
"Jermaine deserves it so much, he really does. I'm so happy for him," she said. "No, I'm not surprised [that he won]. He's flawless. Jermaine is the voice."
Noting that the top two contestants this season were the ones represented by the coaches who avoided all of the drama and infighting, Juliet quipped, "Yeah, right? Kind of teaches you a little bit of a lesson! From the beginning, you saw me from the get-go at the Blind Auditions, when Christina and Adam were going at each other for me--and I chose Cee Lo. So I am so happy I went with my instinct, and I'd just glad that I stayed out of the drama! No problems!"
Since then, Juliet and Cee Lo have formed quite a bond, and he has even given her a song that she has plans to record this week. "I've learned so much from him," she said. "He's brought my sense of self and independence back, you know? He lit the fire under me again for rock and music. At the beginning of all of this, it was getting to a point in my career where it was like, 'Oh my God, is this ever gonna happen?' It was starting to get very disheartening. And he brought that back up for me."
Oh, it's gonna happen for you, Juliet. You're still a winner as far as millions of fans (myself included) are concerned.
