Taking the flaws-and-all messaging of his recent hit "All of Me" to an entirely intense new level, John Legend has premiered the incredibly moving video for "You & I (Nobody in the World)," which celebrates the curves, edges, and "imperfections" of women from all walks of life.
Among the diverse "real women" who appear in the compelling clip, obsessing and (hopefully) coming to accept their imperfect bodies, are a pregnant lady, a bald woman who bravely removes her wig, a boxer with a busted nose, a girl with Down's Syndrome, members of Los Angeles's Derby Dolls rollergirl squad, a lesbian couple, a teen Goth, a bullied middle-schooler, and — in the video's most emotional scene — a sobbing woman who's undergone a mastectomy.
John himself only makes a brief appearance, alongside his wife, model Chrissy Teigen. A couple other famous faces also pop up in the mix, like transgender Orange Is the New Black star Laverne Cox (who wipes off her makeup for the camera) and standup comic Tig Notaro… but the true superstars of "You & I" are the everyday people, not the celebrities.
Dove executives probably wish their commercials were this touching.
